ABOUT CYBERFEST:


Founded by CYLAND in 2007, CYBERFEST was held annually for six years across St Petersburg’s top art institutions (The State Hermitage Museum, Peter and Paul Fortress,Kuryokhin Modern Art Centre, Creative Space TKACHI, Borey Gallery, Gallery of Experimental Sound and Art re. FLEX gallery) earning a reputation as the original and biggest New Media event in Russia.


Making a pivotal leap in 2013 — CYBERFEST’s 7th edition expanded for the first time outside Russia to Berlin, attracting over 10,000 visitors over 5 days. In 2014, CYLAND & CYBERFEST reached further by branching to 5 innovative cities (St Petersburg, Moscow, Tokyo, Berlin, New York) on the Art & Tech frontier, strengthening cultural exchange among innovators.




CYBERFEST’S MISSION:


Each year, CYBERFEST gathers more than 80 artists and art professionals to participate from more than 20 countries in:

  • a New Media exhibition program
  • live performance program
  • sound art program
  • video art program
  • educational program  (lectures, workshops, master classes)

With a roster of diverse talents every year, CYBERFEST has included new media legends such as Pink Twins, ::vtol::, EAT, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Phil Niblock, Peter Vogel, Ryan Wolfe, Ken Butler and DJ Spooky next to Russia's tech art leaders including Ludmila Belova, Peter Belyi, Elena Gubanova & Ivan Govorkov, Vitaly Pushnitsky, Alexander Terebenin, Alexandra Dementieva and Anton Chumak. CYBERFEST is dedicated to:

  • connecting emerging artists to established artists
  • attracting new artists to the field of New Media
  • educating how technologies are used / can be used in Contemporary Art
  • developing professional relationships between artists, curators, programmers; engineers around the world

All events are free / open to the public ensuring opportunity for all to engage.




CYLAND presents CYBERFEST:


Initiated in Russia by artists / curators Anna Frants and Marina Koldobskaya, CYLAND has grown into one of most active, nonprofit organizations producing international New Media projects. CYLAND maintains a video and audio art archive, publishes a sound art series, hosts a residency program, organizes exhibits around the world and is the force behind CYBERFEST.


Continuing to grow all the time, CYLAND works year round on projects from its home bases in St Petersburg and New York City (at St Petersburg Art Project) as well as Berlin (at THE WYE).
