2007, Performance

The first CYLAND MediaArtLab’s project became cyberperformance “Speedless”, made in the fall of 2007. The author of this project is Anna Frants (New York) with the participation of CYLAND members. A man, involved in performance (“user of video glasses”) controls a video recording, which he sees in video glasses, by movements of his body, changing speed and trajectory of motion.

During the demonstration of project there is an interaction with audience (happening) and participant contacts not only artificial reality in glasses, but also an auditory, which reacts to his actions.

Cyberperformance “Speedless” was introduced to the public on October 25, 2007 in the exhibition hall at Johann Ravelin of the Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Petersburg, within the scope of the first cyber art festival CYBERFEST.

Prepared by Billy Kluver, this history of E.A.T. includes photos by Rudy Burckhardt, David Gahr, Peter Moore, Harry Shunk (USA). Lecture by Julia Martin, E.A.T. (USA)

Cult installation by the father of pop art and one of the most famous XX century artists Andy Warhol «Silver Clouds», and in the same time it is one of the first (1966) high-tech art works. Clouds — balloons, filled with mixture of air and helium, float in the streams of air, vibrating from the touches of visitors, reflect everything around themselves, creating «heavenly», joyful mood, launching a challenge against usual expectations. «Silver Clouds» became an emblem of pop art parties.

Video documentation of the performance by Robert Rauschenberg. Produced by Billy Klüver and Julie Martin for E.A.T. and directed by Barbro Schultz Lundestam. Title and sound created by Robert Rauschenberg.
